Read with Biff, Chip & Kipper app

By | October 5, 2014

Now my 4 year old has settled into Reception he’s bringing home reading books, sound book and reading records so I’ve been on the look out for ways to help reinforce his learning at home. Luckily for him  the ‘Read with Biff, Chip and Kipper’ books have recently been launched as a range of interactive reading apps.

Created in association with Oxford University Press and starring the much loved characters from Oxford Reading Tree, the ‘Read with Biff, Chip and Kipper’ range features six levels of reading and phonics books, complementing the learning children are undertaking at school and giving parents the opportunity to support their child’s reading at home.

There are a total of 48 books across six levels, with each level containing four reading books and four phonics books. The digital books are true to the traditional books from the range and give children the opportunity to learn to read in a thoroughly modern way. My 4 year old loves this app and recognised the characters straight away as he started reading these books at Nursery.

The app is easy to navigate and although we’ve used it together he can also use it on his own as the books can be read by him (when he’s able), read to him or can be played on autoplay. The books have some tips for reading together and I find the tips really helpful.

Features:

  • Read with your child or listen as they read to you
  • Auto Play feature allows children to enjoy listening to the whole book being read to them
  • Hints and tips in each book for you to use with your child when reading and talking about the story
  • Each book features a list of common words used within
  • Puzzles and activities – each book encourages your child to have fun looking for details throughout the story as well as finishing off with an enjoyable game
