I realise that my little project to photograph the toddler in front of every tube station sign could last a lifetime at the rate it is going. We love the tube but it’s quite difficult (and sometimes embarrassing) to try and take his picture when we stop at stations. Today we tried our new local station for the first time and travelled to Hammersmith for a shopping fix (for me obviously). We visited 13 new-to-us stations and they were all above ground!

The little people were quite happy to watch the world go by and it was nice to visit my favourite craft store Tiger. The toddler picked a new lampshade for his bedroom and it was nice to be out.

Today we ventured to our local library for the first time. Both my children love to read at home and seemed to enjoy the Storytime session too. They packed an awful lot into an hour including a story, singing and even some crafting. I can’t wait to go back again next week and get our library cards so we can bring some lovely books home.

Have you heard of the Little Poppets? They feature in a new series of board book first stories which follow the adventures of four friends: Mole, Rose, Pippin and Mouse. The stories are sweet and comical, with little mysteries for the Little Poppets to solve, such as where on earth the socks on Mouse’s sock tree really come from!

Children will love the little felt characters and the magical world they live in, which are full of expression and detail. Mouse’s reading lamp is made from a birthday cake candle in a bobbin, and his bed is constructed from postcards.

Giveaway:

I have one copy of Mouse’s Sock Tree to giveaway to one reader of treading on lego. To win simply leave me a comment and tell me the name of Mole, Rose, Pippin and Mouse’s gang.

For an extra entry follow treading on lego on google+ or Bloglovin’

Small print:

The prize consists of one Little Poppets board book. The giveaway ends May 21st at 8pm. The winner will be selected at random from all correct entries received and notified by email or their twitter handle. The prize is as stated: no cash alternatives are available. This competition is open to UK and ROI entrants only.

Apparently today was the last day of good weather so I decided to cut the lawn. It was a bit tufty in places but looked so much better for it. It’s smaller than our old house so hopefully will be easier to look after.

After lunch we caught the bus into Ruislip. I managed to persuade the toddler to visit some charity shops where he was rewarded with a new Thomas DVD and a huge box of Lego Creator (4414). It’s a bit old for him but has 11 instructions and 150 ideas and a silly number of bricks = hours of peace and quiet when he’s a bit older!

We went to the park and sat under a tree before spending some time in the playground. Little Sis loves this playground and has already mastered the rope walk.

I thought I would join in with Sew, Mama, Sew! giveaway day on May 6th. We love to craft so I knew this would be a great way to have a de-stash of my sewing supplies, therefore I have some Sewing + Craft Supplies up for grabs and I am happy to send worldwide.

As well as crafting with my children I also love to make things for them. I can’t resist buying eye-catching prints and have a great stash of vintage and modern prints. I’ve selected 12 pieces to giveaway, each piece measures at least 20cm x 15 cm, which means they are great for patchwork or little stash busting projects.

The fabrics feature a random selection of children’s fabrics and novelties, and I’ve included some of my toddler’s favourites (Thomas & Friends, Toy Story and Disney Cars) so there is a good selection for boys and girls.

Don’t forget to check out the other great prizes people are offering as part of Giveaway Day, which can be found here.

Giveaway:

To win the selection of vintage and modern fabrics simply leave me a comment and tell me your favourite tv or film character. My toddler is addicted to the Disney Pixar film Cars so my favourite character would have to be Lightning McQueen.

Small print:

The prize consists of a selection of vintage and modern fabrics. The giveaway is open until May 10 at 5 p.m. PST. The winner will be selected at random from all entries received and notified by email or their twitter handle by May 12th and the items will be sent by May 15th. The prize is as stated: no cash alternatives are available. The winner will be announced on this post.

The winner is Michelle @ needle and nest

It’s a real asset to the community so I was sad to read that despite being gifted for use as public open space by King’s College Cambridge to the local council. Eastcote Hockey Club are trying to build a second Astropitch on part of the land, taking it out of public use. Their is a lot of local opposition and the plan is to register the area as a Village Green, affording Pinn Meadows powerful legal protection in perpetuity. You can read more about it here.

Manor Farm was a hive of activity with a petting zoo, inflatable bouncy thing, play area and lots of stalls selling bread, cakes, pies, vegetables and plants. We were quite restrained but did enjoy sitting in the sunshine in the courtyard whilst the children played.

Another sunny day meant we were happy to explore our local playground. Unfortunately it was not so local but the walk was pretty down by the river Pinn.

Churchfield Gardens is a lovely open space just behind St Martin’s Church and includes rose beds, tennis courts a huge open space and a little playground. There were lots of people there when we arrived but everyone was really friendly (except the little boy who pulled Little Sis’s hair).

The toddler loves the museum as there is so much to see and do. His favourite part is stamping a special ticket at various places around the building. This time he had to stamp them in numerical order which shows how good he is with his numbers

Little Sis had an amazing time too. Normally she’s happy to sit in her buggy but this time she wanted to walk round. She managed to walk round each floor and wanted to do everything her brother did, including pressing every button inside the lifts and sitting on train seats too!

The toddler looking every inch the intrepid explorer, perfectly dressed for a trip to the train museum in Thomas & Friends trousers, jumper and backpack!
