5 things to do at Legoland Windsor

By | July 28, 2012

We’re huge Lego fans so earlier this year took advantage of a promotion in a certain newspaper to get free adult tickets to Legoland Windsor. We were really excited to find they were tickets for a Saturday and did  our research online before heading off for the day.

Fortunately it’s less than an hour away so we managed to arrive early and spent all day there. The toddler had a great time as there were a couple of train rides so Legoland combined everything he loves – trains and lego!

Legoland is aimed at 3-12 year olds but Big Brother had a brilliant time. Here’s our top tips for having a great day at Legoland with your toddler!

Arrive early. You can park, unload, get through the ticket gates which open at 9.30am, go to the loo and visit the Lego Big Shop whilst it’s nice and quiet. This means by the time the park opens at 10am you are ready to race to your favourite ride and beat the queues!

Duplo Land was good but the main water park in it was broken which was a real shame on such a hot day. We’d gone prepared with a spare set of clothes for the toddler as there are a couple of rides and Waterworks where you will get wet.

Miniland shows famous buildings made from 35 million Lego bricks. This was the perfect height for the toddler to look at and, as expected he loved the trains and boats.

Duplo Train, the Orient Expedition and the Hill Train are all fun train rides for a toddler. We enjoyed spotting the Lego animals on the Orient Expedition and the Hill Train is great for getting you back to the top of the hill after a long day in the park.

We had lunch at a great pizza and pasta restaurant in Lego City overlooking the Pirates of Skeleton Bay stunt show. The toddler ate for free and whilst we finished eating he played with Lego Duplo on boards attached to pillars by our table – a brilliant idea I’d love to recreate at home.

We were very well restrained in the numerous shops and only came away with a few things, one of them being Lego set 6051 for the toddler! And a new money box too.
