Little green fingers

By | June 14, 2013

I love participating in the challenges set by BritMums. The latest one was the MoneySupermarket #KidsGrowWild Challenge. We were sent a very cute mini gardening starter set which the toddler absolutely adored. He loves playing in the garden and I thought this would be a fun challenge as the last time we tried to plant some seeds he complained about his dirty hands! The kit contained a watering can, gloves, spade and seeds.

Although we received the kit a couple of days ago we waited until nanny came to visit to actually do the planting. Nanny is the only person in the family with green fingers so we definitely needed her help.

We had already purchased a huge bag of soil and a large plant pot so under her supervision the toddler helped fill the plant pot with soil, then carefully added in the flower seeds. He then sprinkled another layer of soil over the top, before giving the seeds a good soaking with water.

He had a great time and loved every second! He didn’t even mention his dirty hands once 🙂

We decided to plant the sunflower seeds separately so filled three glass jars with soil and pushed a handful of seeds into each one. Fingers crossed these will grow and we will be able to watch the roots spread.
