We’ve been lucky enough to have taken a long weekend off normal life to visit family. The weather has been a little too hot for us all, especially as we’ve been rushing about from hotel to grandparent, to steam trains and the beach. There’s always so much to see and do when we’re on holiday and we never want to waste a minute.
We’re so lucky that Grandad has a swimming pool which has been well used by us over the last few days. The toddler really enjoyed splashing about, his swimming lessons must have paid off as he’s happy to play about in the shallow end of the pool and even tries to swim with daddy.
There weren’t many toys to play with but that didn’t seem to bother him at all. He was happy with a piece of hose and his crocs. Perhaps I should take back all those expensive toys I buy him ….
Little Sis wasn’t so happy and I think we’ll be booking her some swimming lessons when the toddler starts Nursery again in September. She’s not so confident in the water and was only just wanting to dip her toes in when everyone else was ready to get out!
Our busy day ended with a trip to the beach at Dawlish, where we sat overlooking the sea and watching the trains rush past the little station. We treated ourselves to fish and chips for dinner, hopefully creating some lovely holiday memories for the children.
We’re hoping to take another week off at some point and sometimes I think it would be lovely to be in one place. Do you need to take some time out? Get to Butlins this August and treat yourself! A few friends have recommended it to me and I think it would be the perfect place for my little ones.
In fact, I might think about it as a place for Bank holiday breaks away this Summer. I’ve heard there’s lots to see and do and you can’t always guarantee the weather!
