Downton Abbey at Wimpole Hall

By | August 31, 2013

Today we headed off north to enjoy a weekend away. We decided to stop off and enjoy our National Trust membership by visiting Wimpole Hall near Cambridge. This is the sight that met us.

Wimpole_Hall Unbelievably, that was just the cafe! Here’s the house:

Wimpole HallIt was lovely and we were able to visit quite a lot of it. Some of the interior was designed by John Soane, including an amazing plunge bath, definitely ahead of its time. We also enjoyed the servant’s area, very Downton Abbey.

The only thing we didn’t like was the swarms of wasps everywhere.

What a stunning property with immaculate grounds! It seems the heat and the wasps go hand in hand, I think a small price to pay for the glorious summer we’ve had. It looks like you had a fun day exploring Wimpole Hall, thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
