Dusting off our National Trust cards

By | November 30, 2013

Today we dusted off our National Trust membership cards and headed to Stourhead in Wiltshire.

We had lunch in The Spread Eagle Inn at Stourhead before heading out to admire the view. The views are breathtaking! We didn’t walk around the lake this time but we explored a temple and looked at all the colourful trees.

Then it was back up the hill to the house where the children enjoyed searching for robins in the rooms which were all decorated for Christmas. There were lots hidden around amongst the Christmas decorations and flowers.

Not many rooms were open so we headed back outdoors. The walk back to the visitor centre goes past the pond where we looked for frogs (there were none unlike last time we visited) and then on to the willow tunnel which the children loved running through. We finished off our trip with a nice hot chocolate in the cafe to warm up – brrrr, it was cold!

I love that wind tunnel. We are about to make some fab yet simple Christmas decorations from willow, keep a look out, you may have to pop back and borrow a few twigs! That first photo is stunning, it must be quite a place to visit. Thank you for sharing on Country Kids.
