The art of hiding Christmas presents

By | December 20, 2013

We love Christmas. Every year I start buying my presents in September so come December all I need to do is relax and wrap them. No last minute shopping for me!

The only trouble is finding where to hide the presents. Last year we were in our old house which had really roomy eaves, they were perfect for hiding gifts. This year our new house is bigger but seems to have less storage! And my children are more inquisitive than ever 🙂

Luckily most presents came in brown packaging so they were easy to hide under our bed. A few weeks ago I decided to wrap them so the brown packaging went in the recycle bin and I needed a new hiding place. Over the last week the postman has been bringing gifts from family and friends so I’ve needed to expand the hiding places.

A quick count reveals 6 hiding places in our house. That’s pretty impressive, don’t you think?

We have the cupboard in Little Sis’s bedroom, hidden under a blanket in our bedroom, under daddy’s desk, in the loft, inside our wardrobe and behind our bedroom door.

I know I’m living on borrowed time with some of those hiding places but I think that’s part of the fun. I want my children to understand that although Father Christmas brings a couple of presents mummy and daddy does most of the hard work.

Anyway, there’s only a couple of days left until the big day and we seem to have survived without either child discovering any of their presents. I know it will all be worth it when they finally get to unwrap them on Christmas Day.

This post is an entry into the Tots100/Hudl Christmas cheer competition.
