It was a beautifully sunny afternoon so once we had dropped the boy at nursery we headed out in the car for a drive. We fed the ducks at our local duck pond and then Little Sis wanted to explore the local churchyard. The entrance to St Martin’s is between a couple of shops on the High Street and runs behind them. It was full of interesting old trees and lovely and cool sheltered from the sunshine.
The graveyard was really well looked after so we were able to walk between the headstones and read the inscriptions. There were quite a few graves from the First World War which looked out of place amongst the ordinary grave stones. Some parts of the graveyard had been left alone and were full of pretty flowers and overgrown bushes which made Little Sis want to explore them even more!
After all our exploring we stopped off at our favourite cafe for a drink before heading back to the car.
We walked through Manor Farm and the pre-Norman Motte and Bailey fort. It’s a lovely open space and always deserted so we had the place to ourselves. Little Sis was obsessed by looking for the squirrels and her shadow. She had a great time dancing around and trying to find her shadow, which kept disappearing as the sun went behind the clouds.

So many lovely unexpected parts in Ruislip, and so close to the town centre. LS certainly had a great time……..xxxx
Aww looks like a fun walk! We went to the cemetery too but my son didn’t like that its too quiet. I think he is used to people being around and theres no one there but us =) #countrykids
