Today we’re taking part in the 60 Day Junk Play Challenge hosted by Best Toys 4 Toddlers. We love crafting with the contents of our recycling box. The children are always really imaginative and I love to see what they’ve made. As part of the Junk Play Challenge we decided to upcycle a plastic bottle and use our favourite material – Lego – into a calm down Lego bottle.
Materials needed to make a calm down Lego bottle:
empty plastic bottle with lid
glitter glue
more glitter
hot water
selection of Lego bricks
How to make a calm down lego bottle:
We used an old water bottle for this craft activity. Fill the bottom with plenty of glitter glue, we filled the bottom with about 2 inches of gold glitter glue.
Then add another couple of inches of hot water and shake until the two are completely mixed. This is your chance to add more glitter. We think you can never have enough glitter so added some really fine silver glitter into the mix.
Then add your Lego bricks. My 4 year old chose a really random selection from his Lego box and was happy dropping them into the glittery water.
Top up the bottle with more warm water until the water is about an inch from the top, then set it aside to cool down.
My 4 year old loves his DIY calm down lego bottle. It’s great for shaking and mixing the Lego pieces up. Then he sits and watches them all fall back down again – perfect if he ever needs to take some time out from arguing with his sister!
I hope you like our tutorial for making a DIY calm down Lego bottle. What would you put in yours?
I like this DIY calm down lego bottle. Thank you for the great tips.
I shared it on DIY best posts.
Nanny could use a calm-down bottle sometimes, better than the beads…..xxxx
Awesome way to upcycle plastic bottle for any Lego lover for sure! Thank you for taking part in 60 Day Junk Play Challenge!
