Roald Dahl Literary Estate unveils collaboration with Lego

By | September 14, 2017

This year sees the celebration of the iconic child heroes of Roald Dahl’s stories – Charlie, George, Matilda, James and Sophie. Thanks to the collaboration with Lego, child-sized Lego builds of six of Roald Dahl’s iconic heroes will appear at various locations across the UK.

Willy Wonka’s successor, Charlie will be at Manchester Central Library; Anarchic inventor George will be sited at Nottingham Station; the endearing rule-breaker, Matilda will be at home in The Cambridge Theatre; adventurous James will be holding the fort at Cardiff Castle and brave Sophie from The BFG will be at The Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland.

This month has also witnessed the introduction of a new Roald Dahl hero, Billy, the intrepid hero of Roald Dahl’s very last book Billy and the Minpins. Originally published as The Minpins the story has now been published as a hardback chapter-book, under the title Billy and the Minpins with, for the first time, black-and-white line illustrations by Quentin Blake. This new character, in Lego form, will spend the next eight weeks at The Eden Project in Cornwall.
