This morning I was taking part in one of those quizzes which tests your geographical knowledge. I had a shock as I thought I had a good grasp of geography, but clearly not. Whoever wrote it was very polite and I was greeted with a “Well done: you scored 600 points” but I think I only got 3 of the 15 questions correct!
The quiz is on monuments of the world, testing your knowledge of where specific monuments Karcher have cleaned are in the world. Did you know that Karcher* have cleaned monuments as well as making products we can use at home? I didn’t, but as cleaning specialists they have been actively involved in supporting the preservation of historical monuments and buildings for over 30 years. They’ve cleaned buildings on every continent, including the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany and the famous Colonnade of the Vatican in Vatican City, as well as monuments in Asia, America, Africa and Australia. Think of a famous building and they’ve probably cleaned it!
Taking the test was a little like planning my holidays for the next 10 years. I’ve been lucky to visit some amazing places around the world so far – many of them Karcher have visited too. However I’m looking forward to taking my children abroad soon and there are 3 places we really want to visit:
The first has to be New York, especially to take a boat out to see the Statue of Liberty. There is so much to see and do in New York from museums, seeing the Empire State Building, standing in Times Square, taking a horse drawn carriage around Central Park and maybe catching a show on Broadway. I’d love to have some authentic food too and perhaps a little shopping trip to Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales and Macy’s.
I studied history when I was at University so I do love holidays which combine a bit of history. I’ve always wanted to visit Egypt to see some of the famous historical sites from the Colossi of Memnon at Thebes to the famous pyramids of Alexandria. I can’t stop watching programmes about them but would love to see the real thing.
My third destination would have to be closer to home in Europe. Over the summer we passed through Rotterdam and I would love to go back and spend more time exploring the place. I imagine you would get an amazing view of the city from the Euromast observation tower in Rotterdam and I don’t really need an excuse to go back and visit the Netherlands.
