An expensive toy (Lego Duplo Read & Build)

By | August 7, 2012

Since Nanny came with us on the bus and we realised that the Phil & Ted’s fits on easily we’ve realised that London is now our oyster. Today we ventured out to Brent Cross, we used to go all the time but we hadn’t been on our own since Little Sis came along 8 months ago.

We had a couple of things to do at Brent Cross and it was lovely and quiet (where has the population of London gone?!) so it was easy to get round and we treated ourselves to a cupcake and milkshake at Lola’s Cupcakes.

I had some John Lewis vouchers burning a hole in my pocket so thought I would treat the toddler to some new Lego Duplo. He liked the look of the new Lego Duplo Read & Build,  which contain a book and pieces of Lego Duplo which I saw at Britmums Live a few weeks ago.

The toddler picked Busy Farm but there were two other sets to choose from. When we got home he was desperate to play with it. The packaging was easy to open and contained a board book and 15 pieces of Lego. The story was quite simple and shows pictorial instructions for making four animals from Lego – a rooster, pig, sheep and cow.

The set is aimed at 1 1/2 to 4 year olds. The toddler is 27 months and found it really easy to make the animals, he thought the cow was a horse which was quite cute and made a mental note to take him to the countryside more often!

I like the concept of this set but know that the Lego pieces will soon get added to our general box of Lego and the book will get forgotten at the back of his book box. The only disappointing thing is the price as this cost £9.95 so you don’t get a lot for your money, great for a first taste of Lego Duplo though!
