We’ve been picking up conkers from the horse chestnut trees every time we walk through Ally Pally. We amassed quite a lot, so many they filled a colander. After hearing a few horror stories about what was inside them we froze them overnight.
We weren’t really sure what to do with them but thought a chunky conker necklace might be fun. It was very easy to make.
How to make a conker necklace:
I used a metal skewer to make a hole through each conker, then threaded a large needle with bakers twine through each one to create a necklace. I tied a small knot either side of each conker and spaced them out along the twine. When you have strung as many as you want then tie the two ends of the twine together.
Not sure what my lovely model thought of the necklace but at least she was happy to wear it, unlike her brother!

That’s a great idea, my daughters always picking conkers up in the park but usually end up on the kitchen windowsill until they shrivel up haha, one more thing to add to the ‘to do’ list for half term 🙂 Thankyou x
