On the way to Nanny’s we stopped to visit the world-famous stone circle at Avebury, which is the largest stone circle in Europe. Mummy was excited about sharing some of her historical knowledge with the children but all they could do was complain about the scratchy long grass!
We managed to encourage them into the henge and stand by one of the most impressive megaliths (briefly) but Little Sis wasn’t impressed that we tried to use her as a human scale for the purpose of our photographs.
The toddler enjoyed a little photography lesson with daddy, before we headed back to the safety of the road and ice cream shop.
I’m sure when they are older they will appreciate another visit. I’m glad you did get them to pose with you for the photo, as you said it shows just how huge these stones are. Thanks for sharing with Country Kids.
I love stone circles etc. We’ve got a small one about 10 minutes from us, so must take N to see them. Not sure he’d stand still – he’d probably want to run round them like a loonatic.
Hey! What a fab outing! Hubby and I visited and stayed not far from the Red Lion pub pre-kid and marriage actually. We loved it. He’s such a city man that the very dark nights were a bit too much for him, lol. Its such an amazing place. The kids much have loved it! Looks like you got nice weather on the day too.
