Barton Farm Country Park

By | September 29, 2013

Our first stop of the day was the amazing grade II listed tithe barn at Bradford-on-Avon, measuring 180 feet long and 30 feet wide, which was constructed in the 14th century. It was stunning and, despite being empty, still interesting to explore.

Barton Farm Country ParkThe River Avon runs through it so there was plenty to see. People were fishing  and the rowing club was out on the river. We were very near the Kennet and Avon Canal but despite the proximity didn’t manage to walk to the nearest lock!

We did discover an ancient pillbox before heading to the park.

With a park like this for free I’d definitely be going on a Sunday, looks like plenty to explore and I love the history too. 14th Century is such a remarkable age for that barn and it looks like there is more for another day with the locks too. Thank you for linking up and sharing on Country Kids.

Love the barn, what a wonderful place to take some photos, and I’m very impressed with the symmetry of the photo. Your little girl looks like she’s having a great time on that frame.

    Nipping over from Country Kids.
